As the best-selling sedan in India, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire is of extreme importance to the brand and its customers. Earlier known as the Swift Dzire, Maruti decided to drop the ‘Swift’ prefix, creating a clear distinction between the two models. Regardless of the nomenclature, the Dzire sold upwards of 1,50,000 units last year.Ever since its launch in 2008, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire became the spiritual successor to the hugely-popular Esteem. The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire is based on the brand’s HEARTECT platform, just like the new Swift hatchback. It was launched on November 11 and will carry the ‘Dzire’ mantle forward into the foreseeable future.

Compared to the previous-generation model, the entry-level fourth-generation Dzire costs ₹22,000 more. The price of the new 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire ranges between ₹6.79 Lakh to ₹10.14 Lakh (ex-showroom, India).
What’s new on the outside of 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire?
The alterations made to the exterior of the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire are not entirely groundbreaking. The most drastic difference comes with the brand-new front fascia, which has become bolder and visually larger. The new multi-slatted grille is wider and taller with a chrome strip at the top and a chrome-garnished Suzuki logo in the middle.
The swanky new headlights have angular edges and LED DRLs, the shape being almost reminiscent of the headlights found on the new Superb. Found between them is a thick gloss black bar, which has been applied quite tastefully. Apart from the Toyota-esque open-mouth grille, the 2024 Dzire gains a redesigned bonnet and a well-sculpted front bumper with neat-looking foglamp housings.
Changes to the sides come by way of the new diamond-cut 15-inch two-tone alloy wheels, offered only on the top-end variants. The cheap-feeling antenna stalk on the roof has been replaced with a modern sharkfin design, while a subtle kink has been added to the windowline towards the rear. The rear haunches also look more pronounced.
The upright rear of the 2024 Dzire gets new but boxier taillights with distinct LED elements. The angular edges of these LEDs and their housing is similar in design to those up front. A thick chrome bar connects the taillights, with a bootlip spoiler and revised bumper rounding off the exterior design updates.
Changes to the dimensions are minimal, though the new model is now 1,525 mm tall. However, it is still 3,995 mm long, 1,735 mm wide, and has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. The ground clearance, meanwhile, is 163 mm and the boot space is 382 litres.
A step up in cabin experience
Compared to its predecessor, the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire’s interior looks more modern. This has been made possible due to the new design and layout that’s been lifted straight from the new Swift. You get the flat-bottom steering wheel, updated climate control panel, heavily-reworked dashboard, new tablet-like touchscreen, and repositioned centre AC vents.
Considering its family-centric role among most buyers, the 2024 Dzire’s interior is finished in a lighter and more premium-looking beige/black theme. This not only makes the cabin look brighter and feel airy, but it also mitigates any pressing sense of monotony. Adding to the premiumness is the plastiwood/fake wood trim on the dashboard.
The beige fabric upholstery on the seats helps with the airiness, whilst the seats themselves should remain as comfortable as ever. Visibility all around will not be a challenge and the analogue gauge cluster with its digital MID is easy to read. Nevertheless, you will find bits of design and pieces of trim found on other new Maruti cars.
Modern features and updated safety equipment
For a mature and well-rounded experience, Maruti Suzuki has added some new features to the 2024 Dzire’s kitty. It starts with the inclusion of auto-folding wing mirrors, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, and an electric sunroof. The powered sunroof is available only on the ZXI+ variant – refrain from sticking your kids out of it.
The ZXI+ gets a dash-mounted 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, meaning no ugly cables in sight! It also integrates the Suzuki Connect app, while the top variants get wireless charging and an Arkamys audio system. Since this brand is renowned for its in-car audio tech, your music-listening experience is set to improve with the new Dzire.
The new Dzire also comes with a ‘first-in-segment’ 360-degree camera system. This, along with the rear parking sensors, should make parking in tight confines safer and an absolute breeze. Standard across the Dzire range are 6 airbags, an extremely important passive safety kit. Of course, ABS with EBD are standard as well.
All variants of the 2024 Dzire come equipped with electronic stability control (ESC), providing improved safety margins over wet/contaminated roads. There is push-button ignition, hill-start assist, ISOFIX anchors, a rear defogger, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, and seatbelt reminders.
What are the engine specifications?
The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire is powered by the new Z-series engine, thus replacing the previous K-series mill. The 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated three-cylinder produces 80 hp and 112 Nm of torque, making it less powerful than the old engine. The new Dzire CNG gets the same Z-series powerplant, but makes do with 69 hp and 102 Nm of torque.
The new Dzire comprises a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. Customers of the CNG version though, will have to settle for the manual option. What they wouldn’t have to fret over is the economy, rated at 33.73 km/kg. The fuel economy of the petrol variants, meanwhile, ranges between 24.79 kmpl and 25.71 kmpl for the manual and AMT versions, respectively.
Conclusion
Considering the updates, the new 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire will fly out of showrooms. Moreover, the price delta between the old and the new won’t be a deciding factor for most. Its more premium appeal, nicer interiors, and improved specifications are far more noteworthy.
