Subcompact crossover SUVs have been all the rage in India of late. Some of the current examples in the market include the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Mahindra 3XO, etc. While its official launch is in January 2025, the all-new Kia Syros has already joined this list of sub-4-metre SUVs.
Kia named the Syros after a Greek island and built it on a repurposed Hyundai-Kia K1 platform. The company unveiled it to the public on December 19, 2024. Upon launch, Kia likely plans to price the Syros higher than the Sonet, which starts at ₹7.99 Lakhs. The 2025 Kia Syros will offer several “segment-first” features, which are expected to attract many buyers.

Exterior of the 2025 Kia Syros
The stocky and semi-rugged appearance of the Kia Syros is paired with a tall-boy stance and sleek front & rear LED lights. Its other unique design traits include the L-shaped lights on the rear pillars, pop-out door handles, plus raised roof rails. The signature 17-inch alloy wheels sport a two-tone colour scheme and stand out due to their bold styling.
The stubby but sculpted nose of the Syros features a muscular bumper with a metallic finish. Its rear bumper also gets a similar stylistic treatment, plus a short roof spoiler. The vertically-arranged LED headlights & DRLs, plastic body cladding, and a swooping rear windowline look quite good. Furthermore, a flat roofline and an upright stance elevate the styling of this small SUV.
The 2025 Kia Syros will be offered in 8 exterior colours. There’s Aurora Black Pearl, Glacier White Pearl, Sparkling Silver, Gravity Grey, Frost Blue, Imperial Blue, Intense Red, and Pewter Olive. The Syros is 3,995 mm long, up to 1,805 mm wide, up to 1,680 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,550 mm. Its luggage capacity is between 390-465 litres.
Interior & Cabin Features of the 2025 Kia Syros
The interior of the 2025 Kia Syros features dark and light grey tones with orange highlights to break any monotony. The two-tone two-spoke steering wheel with its chunky buttons and paddle shifters look pretty stylish. Buyers will also appreciate the aluminium pedals, an expansive panoramic sunroof, plus the reclining & sliding second row with seat ventilation.
The sound quality from the 8-speaker Harman/Kardon system should be good, while the 30-inch Trinity Panoramic Display screens look comprehensive. The latter comprises a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a 12.3-inch main touchscreen that supports wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. There is also support for OTA updates, Kia Connect 2.0, and Kia Remote Diagnostics.
Interestingly, the automatic climate control system of the Kia Syros is controlled using a separate 5-inch touchscreen. Enhancing your in-cabin experience further are leatherette seats, 64-colour LED mood lighting, front & rear cupholders, ventilated front seats, and a powered driver’s seat. There’s also an electronic parking brake, multilingual voice commands, cruise control, drive modes, wireless charging, and auto-folding door mirrors.
Safety Equipment of the 2025 Kia Syros
The 2025 Kia Syros comes with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, and tire-pressure monitoring. It also gets hill-start assist, 360-degree cameras, front & rear parking sensors, ISOFIX anchors, rear-occupant alert, and impact-sensing automatic door unlock. Even the traction control system has different modes – Sand, Mud, and Snow.
The most advanced safety equipment in the new Kia Syros is its Level 2 ADAS suite. This ropes in blind-view monitor, adaptive cruise control w/ ‘stop & go’ function and leading-vehicle departure alert. Then there’s forward-collision warning w/ avoidance assist, high-beam assist, driver-attention warning, lane-departure warning w/ lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, etc.
Engine & Transmission of the 2025 Kia Syros
Customers can spec their new Kia Syros with one of two engines. The first is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol with direct injection, which produces 118 hp and 172 Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DCT automatic.
The other engine is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel with 114 hp and 250 Nm of torque. While it’s also available with the manual gearbox, this diesel engine uses a traditional 6-speed automatic transmission instead of a DCT. With more torque and a smoother automatic gearbox, the Syros Diesel should be easy to drive in the city.
Conclusion
Adding to the ever-growing line-up of small crossover SUVs in India, the 2025 Kia Syros should find its niche soon. It boasts a vast array of tech, multiple powertrain options, a spacious & unique interior, and an interesting exterior design. However, some might find the styling of the Kia Syros to be a bit polarizing.
Given its convenience features for the second row, the Syros could also prove to be a decent back-seat experience. If Kia can price it well, prospective customers of the Sonet would want to check out the new Syros with keen interest. The Korean automaker shall reveal the new car’s official prices at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo.
