All-New Toyota Camry Hybrid Coming To India

Toyota Camry Hybrid

As one of the best-selling midsize sedans in the world, the Toyota Camry is a brand of its own. Globally, the Camry has entered its ninth generation (known as the XV80), and this new-generation Camry is now coming to India. Like its precursor, the 2025 Toyota Camry will be a CKD unit and only offered in its ‘preferred’ hybrid avatar.
The all-new Toyota Camry sits on the brand’s semi-luxury TNGA-K platform – sharing its underpinning with the flagship Toyota Crown. Even though the Camry Hybrid barely sold enough units to cement its position within Toyota India’s line-up, that won’t stop the brand from bringing it to our shores. The all-new Camry is to be launched on December 11, 2024.

Expected Price Of The All-New Toyota Camry Hybrid

The previous model only ever existed in one form – one with almost all the bells & whistles that were feasible. Going by that shred of evidence, it’s unlikely Toyota will change its tactic when it comes to the all-new Camry. The outgoing Toyota Camry Hybrid retails for ₹46.17 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Taking into consideration the plethora of changes the new model has undergone, it could cost over ₹50 Lakh (ex-showroom). The price delta between the two would be enough to acquire a decent hatchback from a certified secondhand retailer.

Mechanical Changes That Matter

To go along with the new architecture, the all-new Camry hosts an updated hybrid powertrain. This witnesses the 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine partnering with a single synchronous electric motor and a 1 kWh lithium-ion battery. The fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System (THS) means a combined output of 222 hp – 7 hp more than the old model.

Despite the slightly smaller battery pack, this has been made possible because of the higher voltage of the Li-Ion cells. The revised ICE itself makes around 6 hp more, though its torque remains unchanged. The all-new Camry Hybrid will likely be front-wheel drive in India, just like its precursor.

The revised e-CVT should also make driving this Camry a more pleasant experience. While the revisions may not sound huge, the new Camry could crack 0-100 kmph in around 9 seconds. The revised design also means that this model is more aerodynamic – resulting in a top speed of around 200 kmph.

As for its fuel efficiency, the all-new Camry Hybrid is expected to return over 27 kmpl. This makes it more frugal than the existing model. It should be nicer to drive around town at low speeds while offering improved high-speed stability. The reworked suspension also means a better ride quality.

Exterior Design Of The All-New Toyota Camry Hybrid

The all-new Toyota Camry looks more contemporary and exciting than the model it replaces. Where the changes to the side profiles are minimal, the same can’t be said about the whole car. Toyota’s signature ‘hammerhead’ front fascia features sleek and elegant lines, alongside an aggressively-styled bumper and dual-lens LED headlights. The flatter lower apron is more sculpted, too.

The front bumper also has LED foglights, a central intake, and corner-integrated air curtains. The rear of the all-new Camry Hybrid looks cleaner yet more muscular, courtesy of the stylish C-shaped taillights and chunky bootlid. The latter’s design looks like the new Supra’s – albeit at a smaller scale. Even the rear bumper’s side creases are reminiscent of the Lexus IS.

Updated Interior Features Plenty Of Tech

Like its predecessor, the all-new Toyota Camry Hybrid will offer a ton of standard equipment. Buyers would appreciate a multi-zone climate control system, powered & ventilated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, wireless phone charging, a JBL premium audio system, and paddle shifters. We expect to see a powered sunshade, power-operated rear seats, an electric sunroof, and a power-operated boot.

The 2025 Camry Hybrid will get automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and a digital driver’s display. It should also have a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a power-adjustable steering column, and connected car tech. Its interior feels assuredly upmarket and well-built, offering a relaxed environment with good control over NVH levels. The updates made to the platform plus better insulation help, too.The cabin feels spacious and there is no dearth of room. The leather-upholstered seats are very accommodating and can be occupied for hours on end with barely any discomfort. Those seated in the back will appreciate the cocooned privacy on offer without feeling claustrophobic in the slightest. There are also enough cubbies for your nick-nacks, plus a useful centre-console storage box and cupholders.

The materials used in the new Camry Hybrid’s cabin are mostly what you’d expect from a well-regarded Toyota. They feel long-lasting and durable – interspersed with soft-touch leatherette on select surfaces for a premium overall experience. The materials lower down in the cabin are scratchy and best left alone, though. As for its boot capacity, the international version offers 493 litres of luggage space.

Safety Features Of The All-New Toyota Camry Hybrid

Apart from being a comfortable highway cruiser, the all-new Toyota Camry Hybrid should remain safe while munching those miles. This feeling is assisted by the Toyota Safety Sense system which encapsulates radar-guided cruise control, lane-departure alert, lane-tracing assist, automatic high-beam, etc.

There is also blind-spot monitoring, tyre-pressure monitoring, vehicle stability control, traction control, hill-start assist, parking sensors w/ reversing camera, and automatic brake-hold. Some of the other equipment here includes ISOFIX child-seat anchors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, ABS with EBD, plus Emergency Braking Assist.

Conclusion

The all-new Toyota Camry Hybrid not only looks the part, but it also backs it up with substance. The revived interior looks and feels more premium than before, while offering better comfort and a range of new features. Meanwhile, the changes made under the bonnet result in better performance and fuel economy. For those who can afford it, the all-new Toyota Camry Hybrid would need little convincing.
