All You Need To Know About The 2024 Honda Amaze

2024 Honda Amaze

First launched as the sedan version of the popular Brio hatchback in 2013, the first-gen Honda Amaze sold decent numbers. Half a decade later, the second-gen model dropped, which didn’t receive nearly as much admiration as its predecessor. Launched in December 2024, the new Honda Amaze hopes to revive its brand name as one of India’s best sub-4-meter sedans.

The 2024 Honda Amaze competes with the equally-new 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire. Unlike its Maruti Suzuki counterpart, the 2024 Amaze aims to position itself as the more premium offering. However, that may or may not hold much water with everyone for various reasons. The underpinning of the third-gen Amaze is closely related to the Honda Elevate.

Price of the 2024 Honda Amaze

The 2024 Honda Amaze is sold in three variants in India. These are as follows:

  •       Amaze V (MT) – ₹7,99,900
  •       Amaze V (CVT) – ₹9,19,900
  •       Amaze VX (MT) – ₹9,09,900
  •       Amaze VX (CVT) – ₹9,99,900
  •       Amaze ZX (MT) – ₹9,69,900
  •       Amaze ZX (CVT) – ₹10,89,900

Note that the prices mentioned above are ex-showroom, Delhi. If you’re wondering, the base variant of the 2024 Amaze costs nearly ₹70,000 more than its old-model equivalent. Furthermore, it’s considerably costlier than the base variants of the Tata Tigor, Hyundai Aura, or the Maruti Suzuki Dzire.

Technical Specifications of the 2024 Honda Amaze

Unlike its Dzire counterpart, the 2024 Honda Amaze is powered solely by a four-cylinder petrol engine – there’s no CNG option. Under the bonnet is a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated i-VTEC motor that produces 89 hp and 110 Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual transmission (MT) is standard, though a CVT automatic is available on all variants of the new Amaze.

The manual version returns 18.65 kmpl, while the CVT manages 19.46 kmpl. Even though the 2024 Amaze’s fuel economy is good, the 2024 Dzire can return up to 25.71 kmpl. Where the Honda’s engine shines are in its smoothness and refinement, which are superior to the Maruti Suzuki’s three-cylinder.

The Amaze’s CVT gearbox is also more modern and refined than any AMT unit. Its boot is larger than the Dzire’s as well – 416 litres vs. 382 litres. The new Amaze measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,733 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height. Meanwhile, its wheelbase is 2,470 mm long – 20 mm more than its close rival.

Design of the 2024 Honda Amaze

The 2024 Honda Amaze looks more modern and premium than the model it replaces. Its front fascia is bolder and projects more confidence whilst keeping its Honda sensibilities intact – there’s no brashness here. The upright nose features a wide radiator grille with an available chrome ‘eyebrow’, flanked by stubby LED headlamps with LED DRLs as standard.

The front bumper is more sculpted than before and gets LED foglights with some stylistic plastic trim. The door handles are finished in chrome, while the left-side ORVM features the LaneWatch camera module. Higher variants of the 2024 Amaze have 15-inch two-tone alloy wheels, a sharkfin antenna, and combination taillamps with “wing-shaped” LEDs. However, the abruptly-ending rear facade looks a bit off.

Interior of the 2024 Honda Amaze

Unlike the slightly wider and taller Dzire, the rear seats of the Amaze can feel tighter when carrying three adults. There is sufficient kneeroom and legroom in the back, though that’s only true for folks under six feet tall. However, the seat backrest angle provides decent comfort and there are cupholders in the centre armrest.

While the Amaze gets three rear headrests, they’re fixed in place and therefore not the safest option. The front seats are wide and comfortable, but their under-thigh support can feel underwhelming if you’re tall. A generous splattering of beige trim ensures this cabin feels airy and reasonably roomy. Meanwhile, large windows and rear AC vents add to the overall comfort.

Despite being one of the costlier offerings in the segment, the Amaze doesn’t get leatherette seats or an electric sunroof. While one usually associates Honda with quality materials and fit-and-finish, that isn’t particularly the case in the 2024 Amaze. There’s no dearth of hard and scratchy plastic here, though some of the design aspects look nice.

Some of the highlights include a gently-sloping dashboard, textured finish between the front AC vents, and a “floating” main screen. There are aluminium and piano-black accents, which contribute to the ‘premium’ feel. The new Honda Amaze also gets front cupholders, seatback pockets, and sizeable front door storage for added practicality.

Features of the 2024 Honda Amaze

Some of the noteworthy features include keyless entry & go, automatic climate control w/ PM 2.5 air-purifier, and power-folding ORVMs. The 2024 Honda Amaze gets wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a 7-inch colour MID, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Customers can take advantage of the Honda Connect telematics app, Alexa Remote and smartwatch connectivity.

The new Amaze also comes with remote engine start, automatic headlights & wipers, paddle shifters, plus a 6-speaker audio system. Customers can opt for a 7-colour LED ambient lighting package, front centre armrest, illuminated sill plates, etc. as Honda accessories. The new Amaze features the Honda Sensing ADAS suite, assuring more peace of mind whilst behind the wheel.

The safety suite includes adaptive cruise control, collision detection & braking, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure prevention, auto high-beam assist, etc. The Amaze gets ABS with EBD, hill-start assist, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX anchors, vehicle stability assist, and 6 airbags. It also has a multi-angle rearview camera, plus the brand’s LaneWatch camera system. This mitigates blind spots and ensures better situational awareness.

Conclusion

The 2024 Honda Amaze is a definite upgrade over the old model. It looks better, offers more features & equipment, and its four-cylinder engine & CVT gearbox feel refined. Its spacious boot and connectivity options further enhance its everyday usability. However, the new Amaze is more expensive than its rivals and still misses a few ‘must-have’ features.
