Audi has rolled out an improved version of the A3 Sportback TFSI e that comes with an efficient working high-voltage battery and a much better range of all-electric driving. The entertainment system in the device has also been noticeably improved. The new model will now allow the user to make an all-electric trip, capable of travelling up to 143 kilometers. Especially, where the previous range was less than half of this value. Powering this plug-in hybrid are two available powertrain options. Which will certainly improve the overall driving experience by adding performance and yet still being environment friendly.

Audi A3 Sportback – Performance Upgrades and New Powertrains

The Audi A3 Sportback TFSI e is sold in two trim levels, a 150 kW (204 PS), and a more performance-oriented 200 kW (272 PS) rated model. Key to the upgrade is a new 1.5 TFSI EVO2 engine taking the place of the older 1.4 TSI unit. The engine boasts features such as variable turbine geometry, Miller Cycle and high plasma covent coating of cylinder liner and improved performance of the engine with increased efficiency. However, the 40 TFSI e variant does that in 7.4 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 225 km/h.

Which in turn leads to an electric driving range standing at 143 kilometres (WLTP cycle). The new generation battery is more efficient because of the effective battery chemistry, while the battery cooling system guarantees no underperformance of the battery in any driving conditions.

For the very first time, Audi has equipped the A3 Sportback TFSI e with a DC fast charging system, peaking at 50 kW. This feature allows you to charge the battery from 10% to 80% in less than thirty minutes, enhancing long-distance travel. Also, the vehicle can charge at AC points which is 11 kW with full charge taking 2.5 hours.

Intelligent Drive Management

The Audi A3 Sportback TFSI e has an advanced A3 Sportback TFSI e, which draws upon an intelligent efficient drive management system. Especially, controlling the interaction between what’s the combustion engine and the electric motor in an optimal way. Drivers can opt to engage only electric driving by pressing the EV button. If not the drive can allow the  system to control the two power sources. Pricing and Availability of Audi A3 Sportback TFSI e

The entry-level Audi A3 Sportback 40 TFSI e costs €44200. While the A3 Sportback 45 TFSI e which is more powerful costs €47700. Bookings commence from October 2024 for both the models. The A3 allstreet, expected this year, will feature a hybrid plug-in system.
