The BMW Group and Tata Technologies have announced that they formed BMW TechWorks India. Especially, a regional center of automobile digital and software competency to promote and develop. Initially the venture will have one hundred employees. However, the team intends to grow exponentially with over a hundred employees by the end of 2025. Currently this joint venture is an equal partnership and BMW and Tata Technologies own the company fifty–fifty. Further, the main intent of this JV is to capitalize on Indian skills in engineering and IT segments.

The collaboration in BMW TechWorks India supports the BMW Group’s global vision of creating software-defined vehicles SDVs. Especially, to improve the digital experience of the premium mobility offering. The synergistic combination of BMW’s automotive experience with Tata Technologies’ strength in product engineering. Further, its expected to develop high-quality, sustainable software for latest generation automobiles. The partnership also seeks to supply digital solutions for other IT processes in BMW’s business. That is why, as Christoph Grote, Senior Vice President Electronics and Software at BMW Group in Germany said that India’s software talent would be beneficial for the company’s future Software Defined Vehicles.
