Cadillac has announced its official entry into Formula 1, marking a new chapter for the iconic American brand. Partnering with General Motors and TWG Motorsports, the team is scheduled to make its debut on the F1 grid in March 2026. The FIA and Formula One Management have confirmed that the Cadillac Formula 1 team has met all the entry requirements. Further, vetting the first addition to the F1 grid since 2016.

Calling the moment “transformative” the FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem further praised the team’s alignment with the 2026 technical rules. He said it will energize the sport and inspire future talent.

The team brings together TWG Motorsports’ high-tech expertise and GM’s motorsport legacy. This partnership creates a powerful and distinctly American racing force.
Dan Towriss, CEO of TWG Motorsports, said they’ve been building this plan for over a year. “We’re now ramping up. We’re growing our facilities and hiring top talent,” he said.
GM President Mark Reuss echoed the excitement. “We’re ready to showcase GM’s engineering skills on the world stage,” he said.
Experienced Leaders Guide
Further, the F1 Team gets Graeme Lowdon as a Principal Leader, who is a long-time F1 leader. Russ O’Blenes will take charge of power unit development in his role as CEO of TWG GM Performance Power Units. Their goal is clear: build a full works team with in-house chassis and engine design.
Lowdon said the team’s planning never slowed during the approval process. “We’re ready to race and allowing fans a new team to support,” he said.
O’Blenes added, “We’re deep in development and close to running our first V6 engine.”

Since announcing its F1 ambitions in early 2023, the team has grown rapidly. Over 300 experts are now working on aero, chassis, software, and simulations. Operations are spread across key motorsport hubs including Indianapolis, Charlotte, Warren, and Silverstone.
