BMW India Group celebrates its 15th Anniversary with the production of its 1,00,000th car. Locally produced at the BMW Group Chennai Plant. The BMW 740Li M Sport Edition gets a special badge.

It brings great joy and pride for us as the 1,00,000th ‘Made-in-India’ car drives out of our assembly lines. This achievement is a result of hard work, coherence and consistency of the team. Ensuring that every BMW or MINI car that’s produced in the Chennai plant comprises of the international quality standards. Moreover, it can be compared to any other BMW plant across the globe. Moreover, the key ingredient of this success is the advanced manufacturing processes with state-of-the-art technology, a strong focus on sustainability and highly skilled employees. Further, the increased localization of upto 50% and robust collaboration with local suppliers, created more value for all in the ecosystem. BMW Group Chennai Plant looks forward to raising the standards in feasible manufacturing supremacy further as the India story grows.”

BMW India started its operations in 2007, March at the BMW Group Chennai Plant. The BMW India Group has consistently increased the number of its vehicles being locally produced. At present BMW produces 13 models at the Chennai plant, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine, BMW 3 Series, BMW M340i, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo, BMW 7 Series, BMW X1, BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5, BMW X7 and MINI Countryman.
Moreover, the plant functions on 100% green energy with over 650 employees.
