Suzuki Motorcycle India recalls the Access 125, Burgman Street 125, and the Avenis 125. This recall is  involves specifically for Suzuki’s 125cc scooters. Especially, impacting a total of 3,88,391 scooters manufactured between 30 April 2022 and 3 December 2022. The company refers to this as a preventive measure, which entails owners taking their vehicles to any service stations nearest, for checkups and possible fixing of any underlying problems.

Identified Issues

Assuming the recalled scooters, the major issues that they may develop include engine stall, failure to start, incorrect speed readings, and no engine start. Further, its attributed to the usage of a high-tension cord in the ignition coil. Moreover, it was installed incorrectly and did not meet certain characteristics.

The recall description as per the notice :

The ignition coil did not meet the corresponding drawing requirements (NG) resulting in High tension cord. Moreover, the high-tension cords developed cracks and breaks. Additionally, because repeated bending caused by engine oscillation during running led to engine stall and starting failure. Moreover, if any exposure of water to the cracked high tension cord, will affects the vehicle speed sensor and throttle position sensor. As a result causing the speed display failure or starting failure.

Previous Recalls and Recent Launches by Suzuki Motorcycle India

This recall follows right after a similar recall by Suzuki for the V-Storm 800 DE its adventure motorcycle. Suzuki recalled 67 units built between May 2023 and April 2024 due to possible defects in the rear tyre. The rear tyre was not functioning well, that could lead to tread cracks or deformations. Unchecked, sections of the rear tyre tread may come away from the tyre structure and affect the dynamics of the bike as a whole. A replacement rear tyre will be fitted to the affected bikes.

Besides the recall announcements, Suzuki Motorcycles India recently launched, the new 2024 models of the Access 125, Burgman Street 125, and the scooter Avenis 125. Further, its merely an update with new color options without any change in the other aspects.
