Inspired by the thrill of riding, she first learned to handle a bike on her uncle’s Yezdi 250 while still in school. Even before she owned a motorcycle, she found ways to be on two wheels—riding a scooter for daily commutes and occasionally borrowing her brother’s Royal Enfield Thunderbird. But deep down, she always knew she wanted a machine of her own.

When she started working, she made that dream a reality by getting her KTM 390 Duke. That first ride was more than just a ride—it was the fulfilment of a long-cherished goal.

One of the most inspiring aspects of Priya’s journey is how she seamlessly integrates her passion for motorcycling with her professional and personal responsibilities. With the unwavering support of her family, she ensures that her riding adventures never compromise her commitments.

Planning plays a crucial role in her rides. She meticulously aligns her travel schedule with work commitments. Twice a year, she takes extended leaves to embark on long-distance journeys, as these rides offer her more than just an escape—they provide a sense of purpose and exhilaration.

A Love for Long-Distance Rides

For Priya Mahadik, a motorcycle isn’t just for short breakfast rides—it’s a gateway to unexplored roads and untold stories. Over the past 12 years, she has extensively toured across the southern states of India, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Leh, and Spiti. However, one of her most cherished rides remains her solo trips to her native place in Ratnagiri, a 320 km stretch that she covers one or two times a month. Riding along the coastal belt is an experience she never tired of, always choosing different routes to make every journey unique.

She is not part of any formal riding club, preferring the intimacy and freedom of small-group rides or solo adventures. Taking her mighty BMW R1250 GS to Umling La, the highest motorable road in the world has been one of the most memorable ride so far. However, there is a huge bucket list in the planning.

Conquering Challenges, One Ride at a Time

Every journey comes with its challenges, and Priya has had her fair share. One of the toughest was crossing Baralacha La on her GS. Treacherous black ice, washed-out roads, and heavy truck traffic made for a nerve-wracking experience. But for Priya, challenges are what make a ride truly thrilling. Trusting her instincts and staying focused, she overcame harsh conditions, proving that perseverance turns obstacles into achievements.
