The Audi Q5 e-hybrid: Plug-in Power Meets Premium Performance

Audi Q5 e-hybrid

Audi has taken the next bold step in electrification with the global debut of the Audi Q5 e-hybrid lineup. Offered in both SUV and Sportback body styles, the plug-in hybrid variants deliver a winning blend of luxury, efficiency, and zero-emissions capability. With an electric range of up to 100 km, these new models set fresh benchmarks in the premium mid-size SUV segment.

2025 Audi Q5 e-hybrid: Powertrain and Performance

The 2025 Audi Q5 e-hybrid is available in two power outputs: 220 kW and 270 kW. Each variant combines a 2.0 TFSI engine with a high-performance electric motor and an upgraded 20.7 kWh net capacity battery, boosting efficiency by 45% over the outgoing model.

Thanks to its quattro ultra all-wheel-drive system and dual-clutch transmission, the SUV delivers agile yet composed handling. The 270 kW variant clocks 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds, while the 220 kW model completes the sprint in 6.2 seconds. Top speed across all versions is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

Greater Range, Faster Charging

A key highlight of the new Audi Q5 plug-in hybrid models is the advanced battery architecture. It uses a cell-to-pack design that saves space and boosts energy density. The battery supports three-phase 11 kW AC charging, achieving a full charge in just 2.5 hours. The system also offers predictive regenerative braking, recovering up to 88 kW during deceleration.

Two Drive Modes, Intelligent Energy Use

Drivers can toggle between “EV” mode for pure electric driving and “Hybrid” mode for optimal energy management. In hybrid mode, the system intelligently balances battery and fuel use, prioritizing electric driving in urban zones. Further, a digital slider in the MMI lets drivers manually set the desired battery charge level, a first for the Q5 series.

Audi Q5 e-hybrid – Premium Features Now Standard

Audi has enhanced standard equipment across both variants. The 220 kW Audi Q5 e-hybrid comes with S sport suspension, three-zone automatic climate control, and a fully adjustable rear seat bench. The 270 kW variant comes equipped with LED headlights plus, advanced LED rear lights, and 19-inch aero wheels featuring red brake calipers. Moreover, every model is fitted with the MMI experience plus infotainment system, Audi’s App Store, and a premium audio setup.

Spacious and Practical

Both body styles retain their practical edge. The Q5 SUV offers 438 liters of boot space, expandable to 1,358 liters. The Sportback offers 433 liters of boot space, expandable up to 1,300 liters. There’s also an upgraded center console with 15W wireless charging, USB-C ports with up to 100W power delivery, and more storage cubbies.

Audi Q5 e-hybrid – Availability and Pricing

Built in San José Chiapa, Mexico, the new Q5 e-hybrid models will be available for order in Europe by mid-June 2025, with deliveries beginning in Q3. Prices in Germany start at:

  • €63,400 for Q5 SUV 220 kW
  • €65,900 for Q5 Sportback 220 kW
  • €71,800 for Q5 SUV 270 kW
  • €74,300 for Q5 Sportback 270 kW

Conclusion: Audi Ups the PHEV Game

The Audi Q5 e-hybrid lineup blends luxury with next-gen electrification. Especially, with an increased electric range, faster charging, and thoughtful energy management. It’s designed for those who want to drive smart—without sacrificing performance. These models prove that plug-in hybrids can offer both practicality and power in equal measure.
