The Porsche Sonderwunsch 911 Dakar: A Legendary Creation

Porsche Sonderwunsch 911 Dakar

Porsche recently launched the Porsche Sonderwunsch 911 Dakar edition at its Zuffenhausen facility. Porsche created this highly personalized model to demonstrate its highest level of customization for an Italian sports car collector.

A Look Back at the 911 Dakar

Back in November 2022, the Porsche 911 Dakar was built to excel both on and off the road. Its ground clearance is 50mm higher than the standard 911 Carrera with sports suspension, making it well-suited for rugged terrain. Standout off-road features include red, forged aluminium recovery eyelets at the front and rear, widened wheel arches, and enhanced sills. Powered by a 3L twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine, the 911 Dakar delivers 480 PS (353 kW) and 570 Nm of torque. Further, paired with a distinctive boxer engine soundtrack.

The final unit, delivered in the Porsche Museum, has gone significant customization under Porsche’s Sonderwunsch program. The striking 3-tone paint job on its exterior was influenced by the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally. The major colors are Signalyellow and Gentianbluemetallic, with a Lampedusablue stripe—a shade created in partnership with the car’s owner—completing the design. The LED Matrix headlamps, black stainless steel protection features, and wheels with Lampedusablue rims and Signal yellow spokes enhance its rough appeal.

With Speedyellow highlights set on a black background, the Sonderwunsch 911 Dakar’s interior carries on the unique design. The yellow trim and stitching on the door panels, center console, and dashboard enhance the bright exterior. Sports Seats Plus headrests get ‘911 Dakar’ embroidery in Speedyellow thread. The leather Speedyellow insert enhances the gear selector. Further emphasizing the car’s uniqueness, LED projectors show the Sonderwunsch insignia when the doors open.

A Final Farewell at the Porsche Museum

The Porsche Museum will display this one-of-a-kind 911 Dakar before it heads to its new home. Especially, giving visitors a final chance to admire its bespoke design. Positioned alongside other unique limited-series models, it represents the craftsmanship and personalization that Porsche’s Sonderwunsch program delivers.

This Sonderwunsch 911 Dakar displays the perfect fusion of performance, off-road capability, and personalized design, making it a fitting tribute to the end of the model’s production.
