Monterey Car Week is a symbolic event for the automotive world’s finest. The perfect stage for an unprecedented highlight in Bugatti’s history. Further, the event witnessed the debut of a unique version of the Bugatti Bolide on the famed WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. This new beacon of track-focused performance was joined by the legendary racing machine that inspired it, the iconic Bugatti Type 35.

The one-of-one Bolide 100th anniversary edition, crafted to celebrate a century of achievement. Further, its a spectacular testament to the legacy of the Type 35, the most successful racing car in history. Further, these unique cars raced through the Corkscrew and high-speed rises, which made a beautiful show of style and speed.

Bugatti Leaders Witness a Historic Moment

Mate Rimac, the CEO of Bugatti Rimac, Christophe Piochon, the President of the company, Hendrik Malinowski, the Managing Director, Alexis Ploix, the Director of Aftersales & Customer Service, and many other Bugatti teams marked the historic occasion with their presence. This event brought a culmination of the number of years to the making of the car symbolizing type 35.

When Type 35 and the Bolide in Anniversary were stationed in the Bugatti garage, viewers indeed felt that they were a part of this emotional moment that was mingled with history and progression.

The Legacy of the Bugatti Type 35

Since its outbreak at the Grand Prix de Lyon on August 3rd, 1924. The Type 35 was identified with high levels of performance. In its lifetime, the Type 35 managed to claim in access of 2500 wins across all forms of competitions. Those included road races, rallies, speed trials as well as hill climbs. Its versatility was a fitting tribute to its ingenious design and the relentless pursuit of performance.

The Bolide 100th Anniversary Edition: A Tribute to Racing Heritage

The special-edition Bolide’s livery commemorates the Type 35 and Bugatti’s rich racing heritage. The bespoke vehicle’s finish, ‘Grand Prix Blue’, is a modern interpretation of Type 35’s iconic ‘Bleu de Lyon’, first seen in 1924. Bright red carbon fiber on the exterior underlines early Grand Prix nation racing colors such as Blue, British green, German white, and Italian red (Rosso).

On the inside too, the Bolide keeps up with this beautiful captivating detailing. The cockpit features pure carbon, and the center console showcases an aluminum milled finish with an ‘engine turn’ effect. Unique leather, specific to the anniversary edition, covers the seats and cabin. Intricate 100 Anniversaire embosses on the headrests and anniversary decals on the side sill mark the Type 35 centenary.

A beautifully intricate track plate depicting the Type 35 and Bolide together in profile completes the cockpit. Especially, paying homage to the incredible evolution represented by these two models.

Training the Next Generation of Bugatti Owners

Bugatti also used the opportunity at Laguna Seca to train a future Bolide owner on the nuances of a track car. At one of the world’s most revered tracks, the customer eagerly immersed himself in the experience of owning the track-only Bugatti during a personal briefing. Thrilled and emotional, the future owner watched the Bolide in action on the Laguna Seca track.

This once-in-a-lifetime occasion, which brought together Bugatti legends, embodied a stunning spectacle on the asphalt of Laguna Seca. It marked a significant moment in the marque’s history, celebrating both past and present icons in a truly unforgettable fashion.
