GM Energy Solutions Drive Electric Future Forward

GM Energy Solutions

General Motors continues its push toward an all-electric future with GM Energy solutions leading the way. The company is building a strong ecosystem to accelerate EV adoption and give customers greater control over their energy use.

GM Energy Solutions Deliver Strong Growth

In just 18 months, General Motors Energy solutions have made major progress in electrification and energy management. GM reports a 30% month-over-month revenue increase since January and a fivefold jump in sales for charging and energy products. Nearly 70% of GM EVs are now sold with a GM Energy product, including close to 100,000 adapters.

This growth highlights GM’s success in breaking down barriers to EV ownership through reliable and convenient charging at home and in public.

Expanding Access Through GM Energy Solutions

A year ago, GM expanded its energy management products across all 50 states. Today, GM Energy solutions include 10 innovative offerings designed to make EV ownership easier and smarter.

Key Offerings

  • Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) Charging: Also called bi-directional charging, this allows compatible GM EVs to power homes during outages.
  • GM Energy PowerBank: A stationary home battery that stores energy from the grid or solar to extend backup power.
  • Charging Adapters: Enable drivers to use different chargers, promoting industry-wide compatibility.

Driving Change with GM Energy Solutions

GM is collaborating with major partners like EVgo, Pilot, and ChargePoint to expand public charging infrastructure. It is also part of IONNA, a joint venture with other automakers.

Through General Motors Energy solutions, more than 250,000 chargers are now available across North America, with 35,000 GM-invested fast chargers set to deploy by 2030. These sites rank among the top three networks for customer experience.

GM is also improving the overall charging experience by adding restrooms, food, and retail options at select stations. Many locations feature weather-protected awnings and pass-through layouts for truck owners.

Powering the Grid with GM Energy Solutions

Electric vehicles are reshaping energy management. With GM Energy solutions, the company is working with utilities to enhance grid resilience and explore vehicle-to-grid technology.

In Texas, GM supports free overnight charging programs, while in California, it is testing vehicle-to-home pilots that provide incentives and pave the way for two-way grid integration.

Future Outlook

GM continues to lead standardization efforts by supporting the North American Charging Standard (NACS). Upcoming models like the 2026 Cadillac OPTIQ and 2027 Chevrolet Bolt will feature native NACS inlets for easier charging access.

Internally, GM Energy solutions are deeply connected with GM’s product and brand teams, ensuring they evolve alongside customers’ EV needs.

As GM moves forward, its mission remains clear, make electric mobility accessible, reliable, and transformative for all. With General Motors Energy solutions, the company is powering a smarter, sustainable future.
