Carens Clavis EV: Kia’s First All-Electric MPV

The Carens Clavis EV is the brand’s first all-electric MPV developed specifically for the Indian market. Although it retains the same body design as its petrol and diesel siblings, the EV version features signature electric styling cues like a sealed-off grille, aerodynamic wheels, and subtle blue highlights.

Under the hood, the Clavis EV is offered in two battery pack options:

  • 42 kWh Standard Range with an estimated 404 km range
  • 51.4 kWh Long Range delivering up to 490 km (ARAI certified)

The electric motor delivers 171 PS of power and 255 Nm of torque. It supports 100 kW DC fast charging, enabling a 10% to 80% top-up in under 40 minutes. For home charging, Kia offers both wall-mounted and portable AC chargers.

Spacious, Smart & Premium Inside

Designed for big families, the Carens Clavis EV retains its 7-seater cabin setup, providing ample headroom and a spacious boot. The cabin feels upmarket with features like:

  • Dual 12.3-inch screens (for instrument cluster and infotainment)
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Bose 8-speaker premium audio
  • Ambient lighting and wireless phone charging

Rear-seat occupants enjoy dedicated AC vents, USB-C charging ports, and generous legroom, making it a convenient electric vehicle for long journeys.

Carens Clavis EV Advanced Safety and Driver Assistance

The Carens Clavis EV doesn’t compromise on safety. It includes:

  • Six airbags as standard
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC) paired with disc brakes on all four wheels.
  • Level-2 ADAS tech with features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and forward collision alert.
  • 360-degree camera system with blind-spot monitoring

These safety systems enhance not only occupant protection but also the driving experience in busy urban conditions.

Kia’s EV Ecosystem: Charging Made Easy

To support the Carens Clavis EV rollout, Kia has introduced a new EV ecosystem called K-Charge, integrated into the MyKia app. Through this platform, users gain access to:

  • Over 11,000 public charging stations across India
  • A route planner with real-time station availability and digital payments
  • Backed by over 100 fast-charging dealerships and more than 250 EV-equipped service centers

Kia Motors India has projection of expanding its network to 20,000 charging points by mid-2026. Especially, aiming to tackle the major challenge of EV infrastructure in India.

Carens Clavis EV Variants, Bookings & Delivery Timeline

The Carens Clavis EV will be available in multiple trims, with the top-end HTX+ Long Range variant expected to cost around ₹24.49 lakh. Bookings officially open on July 22, 2025, and customer deliveries will commence shortly afterward.

Competing in a New Segment

With this launch, Kia enters a largely unexplored segment in India — electric MPVs designed for families. It aims to compete with upcoming rivals such as the BYD eMax 7 and future offerings from Tata and Hyundai in this space.

The Carens lineup recently emerged as Kia’s best-selling model, with over 7,900 units sold in June 2025 alone. The electric variant is expected to further boost those numbers by appealing to environmentally conscious buyers.

Final Word on KIA Carens Clavis EV

The Kia Carens Clavis EV combines spacious practicality with the efficiency of electric mobility. Further, making it a smart choice for Indian families ready to transition to EVs. With strong features, commendable range, and robust charging support, it sets a new benchmark in the electric MPV space.
