Maruti Suzuki has stepped into the electric vehicle space with the introduction of the Maruti e VITARA, its first battery-powered SUV. The company had earlier showcased the model at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, marking a significant advancement in its electrification roadmap.

The SUV is underpinned by the newly developed HEARTECT-e platform. Especially, an EV-specific architecture designed to offer improved crash safety, structural rigidity and enhanced cabin volume. This platform also supports a long wheelbase, enabling a more spacious interior layout.

Maruti Suzuki will position the e VITARA through its NEXA retail channel, aligning it with the brand’s premium product line. Further, the company also confirmed that the SUV will be manufactured in India for global markets, with exports planned for more than 100 countries.

The e VITARA is set to arrive with two LFP battery options:

  • A 49kWh unit for city-focused users
  • A 61kWh version with a projected 500+ km MIDC-certified range (based on internal tests)

Both packs feature Cell-to-Pack construction paired with a thermal system engineered to operate effectively in extreme weather conditions.

Driving Modes & Efficiency

The SUV supports multiple driving modes including:

  • A specific Snow mode

Inside, the SUV features:

Maruti Suzuki will begin bookings for the e VITARA in January 2026, corresponding with its introduction in the Japanese market.
For India, the electric SUV is expected to be priced between ₹16 lakh and ₹24 lakh (ex-showroom). Moreover, the company may confirm the final price likely early next year.
