Nissan Murano Ergonomics Enhance Everyday Comfort
With multigenerational households growing across the U.S., Nissan engineers worked to ensure the new Murano makes daily travel easier. Engineers designed the Nissan Murano’s ergonomics early in the process, focusing on easy access for everyone.
Terence Porter II, Senior Manager of Human Factors and Ergonomics at Nissan Technical Center North America, emphasized that optimizing measurements for comfort and ease directly impacts customer satisfaction.
Seat and Steering Design Focused on Accessibility
The Nissan Murano ergonomics extend to its redesigned driver seat, which now offers a wider range of adjustments. It accommodates drivers from 4 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet, 4 inches, ensuring everyone finds their ideal position.
Both front and rear outboard seats feature Nissan’s Zero Gravity technology, reducing fatigue on long drives. The flattened steering wheel rim adds 0.75 inches of extra space, allowing easier movement in and out of the seat.
Engineers changed the seat and steering wheel position to give more knee space and better front-seat comfort, making it a clear improvement over the older Murano model.
Rear Seat Comfort and Easy Access enhances Nissan Murano ergonomics
For families, the Nissan Murano ergonomics also shine in the second row. The rear doors now open up to 78 degrees, 10 degrees wider than before. Further, making it easier for passengers with limited mobility and for parents handling bulky car seats.
Engineers also fine-tuned the dimensions between the seat cushions, door openings, and side sills to make stepping in and out of the vehicle effortless.
Precision Engineering for Everyday Use
Nissan’s attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the Nissan Murano ergonomics. Designers adjusted the door armrests for optimal elbow comfort, positioned the assist grips for easier support, and angled the electronic push-button shifter to reduce hand movement. Moreover, they measured every millimeter to ensure maximum usability and comfort for all occupants.

Nissan’s dedication to ergonomic excellence aligns with its focus on safety and driver assistance. The 2025 Murano was awarded the IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating and comes standard with Nissan Safety Shield® 360.
The 2026 Murano introduces ProPILOT Assist 2.1, offering hands-off driving on compatible roads. With a starting MSRP of $41,670, the Murano blends innovation, comfort, and safety into a complete family vehicle.
