Tata Motors South Africa has officially returned to the passenger vehicle market, unveiling four new models—Harrier, Curvv, Punch, and Tiago—at a launch event in Johannesburg. This marks a bold new chapter for the Indian auto giant as it expands its global footprint while addressing the mobility needs of South African consumers.

Tata Motors South Africa Partners with Motus Holdings

The company’s return is strengthened through a collaboration with Motus Holdings, South Africa’s leading automotive group. Tata Motors brings modern engineering and high safety standards, while Motus contributes expertise in sales, nationwide distribution, and aftersales service. Together, the alliance aims to deliver a reliable ownership experience with strong customer support and value-driven offerings.

Tata Motors has gained significant growth in India, expanding from 170,000 units in 2020 to more than 560,000 units in 2025. Its vehicles consistently achieve 4- and 5-star safety ratings from Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP, backing its position as a leader in automotive safety.

Tata Motors South Africa Model Portfolio

The South African line-up includes four models designed for different lifestyles:

  • Harrier – A full-size SUV offering a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, advanced driver assistance systems, and a premium interior with modern infotainment.
  • Curvv – A coupe-inspired SUV with a sleek design, powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and advanced connectivity features.
  • Punch – A compact SUV built for city life and weekend getaways, offering high safety, infotainment, and versatile drive modes.
  • Tiago – A stylish hatchback with efficient engines, youthful design, and smart technology, ideal for urban mobility.

Initially, Tata Motors South Africa will operate through 40 dealers nationwide, with plans to expand to 60 outlets by 2026.
