Volkswagen globally launched the new top-of-the-range Golf models, the Golf R and Golf R Variant. Further, the all-new range of Golf comprises an impressive output of 245 kW (333 PS) along with optimized driving dynamics and exclusive standard equipment. Additionally, it gets an increased 10 kW (14 PS) compared to their predecessors. The optional R-Performance package can boost the top speed of 250 km/h to 270 km/h. Further, making the new Golf model one of the fastest vehicles produced by Volkswagen alongside the Arteon R Shooting Brake. The cost of the Golf R starts at €53,795 and the Golf R Variant at €55,065, with pre-sales to commence from July 3rd in Germany. An additional exclusive model, the Golf R Black Edition, will be available for €58,440.

Sharper Design and R-Specific Equipment
Based on the 8th generation of the Golf, new R models comprised significant updates this year. The updates include new LED Plus headlights, new LED tail light clusters, an illuminated VW badge, and air curtains in the bumper. As an optional feature, 19-inch “Warmenau” forged wheels offer enhanced brake cooling and a sleek design.
Upgraded Infotainment System
The infotainment system gets a large display with improved graphics and a fresh menu structure. Moreover, it also features new touch sliders for automatic climate control and volume, and the voice assistant IDA03 using AI-based software “ChatGPT.” The touch steering wheel’s responsiveness has also been optimized.

The interior of the Golf R models is designed for ergonomic comfort and refined in the “R” style. As a standard feature, the Golf R gets sports seats with integrated head restraints. Further, adding to the exclusivity, an optional black nappa leather interior with a carbon look, blue accents, and real carbon interior applications.
Impressive Performance
Further, powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, the new R model generates an output of 245 kW (333 PS). Further, paired with a 7-speed DSG and 4MOTION all-wheel drive with R-Performance Torque Vectoring. Moreover, the driving stability and agility that optimizes the cornering is the well-distributed power individually to the rear wheels. The models feature a torque of 420 Nm, and the top speed can be increased from 250 km/h to 270 km/h with the optional R-Performance package.

R-Performance Package
The R-Performance package comprises a higher top speed and two additional driving modes: Drift and Special. The “Special” mode is built for the Nürburgring Nordschleife, which offers additional downforce provided by a larger roof spoiler. The package also comprises a GPS lap timer and a G-meter, displayed in the Digital Cockpit Pro.
Vehicle Dynamics Manager
Further, optimizing the driving comfort and dynamics through the Vehicle Dynamics Manager is the coordination between adaptive chassis control (DCC) that continuously reacts to road surfaces and driving conditions, as a standard feature in Germany. The Golf R Variant offers maximum flexibility with a luggage compartment volume of up to 1,642 liters.
Exclusive Golf R Black Edition
The Golf R Black Edition features a sophisticated dark look with darker VW badges and R logos, black R brake calipers, black 19-inch Estoril wheels, and black tailpipe trims. As a standard feature, the darkened IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlight includes the R-Performance package.
