The Porsche Leipzig facility has received the 2025 Automotive Lean Production Award in the OEM category. The Saxony facility impressed the jury with its streamlined, digital, and heavily automated processes. Especially, showcasing its commitment to innovation and efficiency.

Porsche Leipzig facility awarded for Excellence

The award, presented annually since 2006 by Agamus Consult in partnership with Automobile Production. It also recognizes automotive plants that establish standards in lean, advanced, and digitally connected manufacturing. They recognized Porsche Leipzig for its strong emphasis on quality, efficiency, and adaptability.

Dr. Werner Geiger, Managing Director of Agamus Consult, stated, “Porsche Leipzig stands out for its steady use of lean methods, digital technologies, and advanced automation, making it a deserving winner of the Automotive Lean Production Award 2025.”

Automotive Lean Production at Porsche Leipzig

The plant has become a role model in the industry by producing petrol, hybrid, and fully electric powertrains on a single line. Albrecht Reimold, Executive Board Member for Production and Logistics at Porsche AG, emphasized that this adaptability enhances Porsche’s competitive edge.

Automotive Lean Production principles guide production, focusing on efficiency, sustainability, and employee involvement. Continuous enhancements and smart resource utilization remain central to operations.

Gerd Rupp, Chairman of the Management Board of Porsche Leipzig GmbH, said, “This award recognizes our team’s commitment and inspires us to keep moving forward with determination.”

Automotive Lean Production Congress 2025

The award will be handed over at the 19th Automotive Lean Production Congress in Poznań, Poland, on 25–26 November 2025. The jury evaluated the finalists through detailed questionnaires, shopfloor walkthroughs, and discussions with plant teams.

Since opening in 2002, Porsche Leipzig has produced iconic models like the Macan, Panamera, Cayenne, and the Carrera GT. In addition, the site received the Lean and Green Management Award in 2021 and the Factory of the Year title in 2023. Further, cementing its reputation as a leader in smart production.
