Srinagar, India – Tata Motors, India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, has announced the delivery of the first batch of cutting-edge Ultra EV air-conditioned electric buses to Srinagar Smart City Limited. This significant development is part of a broader initiative to supply, maintain, and operate 100 electric buses in Srinagar and 100 electric buses in Jammu over a 12-year period. Further, marking a major stride towards enhancing public transportation in the region.
These environmentally friendly, zero-emission buses are a collaborative effort with Tata Motors Group’s company, TML Smart City Mobility Solutions (J&K) Pvt Ltd. Basically, in line with the goals set by the Housing and Urban Development Department of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
The indigenously built electric buses incorporate cutting-edge technology and advanced battery systems. Further, designed to provide a safe, comfortable, and convenient mode of intra-city transport throughout Srinagar.
The official flag-off ceremony for this fleet of electric buses was attended by esteemed dignitaries. Including Shri Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Shri Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary of J&K, Shri Junaid Azim Mattu, Hon’ble Mayor of Srinagar, joined by Shri Prashant Goyal, Principal Secretary of H&UDD, J&K, Shri Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir & Chairman of Srinagar Smart City, Shri Prasanna Ramaswamy, Administrative Secretary of the Transport Department, J&K, and Shri Athar Aamir Khan, IAS, Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation & CEO of Srinagar Smart City, among others.

The Tata Ultra EV electric bus stands as a benchmark for urban commuting, optimizing energy consumption, and operational costs. It boasts features such as ease of boarding, comfortable seating, and advanced safety features. Further, aligning with the commitment to cleaner public transport and meeting urban passenger transportation needs.
