The All New Electric Porsche Macan In Testing Phase

Porsche Macan All New Electric

Stuttgart – Porsche, the esteemed luxury car manufacturer, is rigorously testing the prototype of its all-electric Macan as it gears up for the vehicle’s eagerly awaited world premiere. A decade after the launch of the original Macan, the upcoming electric version stands out as the first Porsche model built on the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE).

Meticulous Testing Process Ensures Seamless Integration

The testing phase for the electric SUV is characterized by meticulous attention to detail. Further, reflecting Porsche’s commitment to ensuring the seamless coordination of all components and systems. Real-world testing with camouflaged prototypes is a crucial aspect of the process, complemented by precise simulations in both the virtual world and wind tunnel testing, emphasizing the brand’s dedication to enhancing not only the sportiness but also the efficiency of their vehicles.

Balancing Act: Design Identity Meets Aerodynamic Efficiency

Jörg Kerner, Vice President, Product Line Macan, highlighted Porsche’s focus on driving dynamics, precision, efficiency, and design during the development of the all-electric Macan. Maintaining the product identity of the successful Macan series while meeting aerodynamic requirements was a challenge. Further, addressed through close collaboration between the Design department and aerodynamic testing.

Impressive Aerodynamics: Achieving a Drag Coefficient of 0.25

The vehicle’s aerodynamics achieved an impressive drag coefficient of 0.25, a significant improvement from the previous 0.35. The innovative features such as active aerodynamic elements, a flat and closed underbody, and streamlined wheels made things possible. Further, contributing to the Macan’s status as one of the most aerodynamic SUVs. These enhancements have a direct impact on efficiency, with estimated WLTP ranges exceeding 500 km for all variants.

High-Speed Charging Capabilities for On-the-Go Convenience

Porsche has also prioritized fast charging capabilities for the Macan. The electric motors draw energy from a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery. Further, supporting high-performance fast charging with a capacity of up to 270 kW. The 800-volt architecture enables rapid charging, with the ability to increase charge levels from 10 to 80 percent in less than 22 minutes at 400-volt charging stations.

Driving Dynamics at the Forefront: Testing Under Extreme Conditions

The driving dynamics of the new Macan have been a key focus, aligning with Porsche’s commitment to delivering a sporty driving experience. The vehicle’s robustness and performance is the result of testing’s under extreme conditions. That included extreme temperatures (-30 to +50 degrees Celsius) and various terrains (gravel, snow, and ice).

Cutting-Edge Technology Meets Tradition: Rear-Focused All-Wheel Drive

Porsche’s dedication to driving dynamics is reflected in the rear-focused all-wheel-drive system of the all-electric Macan models. Further, equipped with the latest generation of permanently-excited PSM motors. The electronically controlled Porsche Traction Management and Porsche Active Suspension Management system contribute to a broad spectrum between high performance and comfort. Further, maintaining the Macan’s reputation in both areas.

With over three and a half million test kilometers completed on test tracks and public roads. The all-electric Porsche Macan is poised for its world premiere, offering a blend of cutting-edge technology, driving dynamics, and efficiency.
