The New MINI Cooper S introduced to the Indian Market at a starting price 39.5 Lakhs

MINI is best known for making exciting and joyful hatchbacks. The original MINI’s were extremely famous for their performance, they were particularly small but their size and low weight meant that they handled incredibly well and since they were so tiny, they would just zip past their opponents on corners.

Over the years, MINI has drastically changed, becoming bigger, more comfortable, and far more practical compared to the original MINI. Some might say that the new cars have lost the original charm and character but the old MINI’s were not nearly as practical or reliable as the new ones. The small car premium segment has evolved to the next level. The designers have refreshed and updated the MINI 3-door, 5-door, and convertible to help them stand out from their rivals and deliver maximum thrill and luxury behind the wheel. 20 years after the launch of the modern MINI, the latest generation takes pride and presents itself in top form.

Exterior 

The MINI 3-door, 5-door and convertible get a fairly expressive and refreshed front fascia. The new front grille is much larger, more attractive and gives the front end a sharper look. The position lights have now been replaced by the stylish yet functional air curtains that optimise aerodynamics. The central bumper strip now available in body colour rather than black looks much better.

The new and darkened LED headlights which look particularly sporty along with the characteristic rear lights in the Union Jack design make their way as standard equipments into the new range of MINI’s. The optional Adaptive LED headlights include smart gimmicks such as the cornering light which will illuminate the path you steer towards, the matrix high beam which prevents dazzling other road users and bad-weather light.

The unique Multitone roof and mirror caps are one of the most significant design features that have made MINI a forerunner when it comes to customization. In addition to the Jet Black, Aspen White, Melting Silver, and Chili Red paintwork for the MINI John Cooper Works, the company offers an innovative and globally unique roof paint finish for the new MINI 3-door and 5-door. The new Multitone roof features a colour gradient from San Marino Blue through Pearly Aqua to Jet Black created with a new painting technique.

Interiors

MINI’s are like bright and colourful skittles, the colour you opt for is important since after the distinctive shape it’s the colour that enhances the road presence of a MINI. Hence, in the new range of MINI’s the choice of body paint finishes include 3 new and exciting colours, Rooftop Grey Metallic, Island Blue Metallic and the bright Zesty Yellow, which was initially available only for the MINI convertible.

A new and renewed range of alloys such as the 17″ Tentacle Spoke black design. Moreover, Scissor Spoke design which were previously available only for the MINI Sidewalk convertible. The black version of the Pedal Spoke variant which was exclusive to the 60 Years Edition models are now available. If you want to go bigger, there are the 18″ light alloy wheels in Pulse Spoke design. They look absolutely stunning or you could opt for the sportier John Cooper Works light-alloy wheels in Circuit Spoke Black design.

Cabin

The designers have extensively redesigned the cabin, highlighting the British automobile manufacturer’s premium character. They have optimized the hallmark central instrument, which truly enhances the cabin’s look. The new MINI 3-door, 5-door, and convertible variants will come standard with a newly designed sports steering wheel integrated with multifunction buttons. An 8.8″ colour touchscreen display, touch-sensitive favourite buttons and Piano Black high-gloss surfaces are now available as standard.

To keep the central layout simple and functional and reduce clutter. Further, the designers have harmoniously integrated the audio control unit. The function buttons for the hazard warning lights and driver assistance system into the circular control unit.

Engine

Under the hood, you can choose from 3- and 4-cylinder engines, all powered efficiently by MINI TwinPower Turbo technology. Especially, which features a turbocharging unit in the exhaust manifold, direct petrol injection, and variable valve timing. The 1.5-litre 3-cylinder engines come in three versions, producing 75 hp, 102 hp, and 136 hp.

In contrast, the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine produces 178 hp or 231 hp in the two John Cooper Works models. The MINI Cooper SE provides emission-free driving fun and with its electric motor produces a decent 184 hp. The high voltage Lithium-ion battery enables a range of 203-234 kilometres.

The new MINI Cooper S is priced at ₹39,50,000 while the MINI Cooper S JCW is priced at ₹43,40,000.
